WHO AM I...

I think every one of you must have asked this question at some point in your life, who am I? I am referring to the personality that you call "I" How did it come about?
This question has both philosophical and scientific importance, I am not much of a philosopher so I am going to present my pseudo scientific analysis of this single-most important aspect of out lives – our personality.
For me it’s the amalgamation of the influences that are catered through our senses that our mind could make sense or accepts becomes our personality. What is a personality, it’s the unique way in which you perceive and react to a situation. The perception is governed by the concepts of right and wrong, good and bad etc that were conceived due to the influences. So what are these “influences” that we are talking about?
It is the geographical location, the people around you, the events in your lifetime, socio-economic forces, not to forget your own experiences and a number of other things that you come across in your life.
Lets try not to digress from the primary objective of this discussion, determining whom you are to describe in a phrase it is everything and everybody around you, but how did they acquire their personality! Seems like a dead end.
To picture this I would like to illustrate an example, people with science background will be able to relate to this easily. Take a air-tight box filled with gas molecules. It is common knowledge that the molecules are in motion but the momentum exhibited by each of the molecule is not its own but its neighbor’s in the limited perspective of the molecule itself but for an entity observing from outside it is the container which is giving the molecules their momentum.
So what I like to conclude is it is not the people around but a greater purpose that governs the personality of a person its not event the people who are around you, I think that most people would conclude that the purpose is “survival” which has led us to become what we are, But then the big question is why? Why are we so inclined to survive? What is the purpose of this survival, what is so important which is driving us to survive? These are the questions I arrived at after much musing.
I hope these questions are answered some day not for my sake but for the sake of our species and life itself.

Dare to dream
Did you ever dream of something very big (seemingly impossible) and then you realized that you cannot fulfill it since people around you said so and it made sense, so you let go of it. Is it futile then to dream or to want something which is out of our reach because anyway it is not achievable?

If that were the case we wouldn't be where we are today, would we? If the Wright brothers had thought that flying was out of the question for a human being, if Edison thought that he would use candles and forget about inventing light bulb and give up on the quest. I could cite zillion examples and still think of some more, so why is it that they succeeded in doing something extraordinary even though everybody else thought they wouldn't. There's not much difference but just one quality that stands out for me in those few men who could achieve and people who gave up, is that they dare to dream and struggled to fulfill it, nothing could come between their goals they even laid down their lives for it.
There are people who couldn't realize their dreams when they were alive but that did deter them because they leave a legacy behind which is carried on by the next generation, So if you dare to dream then you should do everything and anything to reach it. That's the way to live.. live forever.

Believe in yourself.
